Urine Haem Testing Sticks
UPDATE: 7th October
Currently I am using a new batch of the Uritest Sticks. The pH doesn't seems to be a problem as I thought before. However I think this batch is more sensitive to haem as I get a small reading with these and none with the Mission Sticks. So whereas finding the haem was disappointing after using the Mission sticks exclusively for a month, it is good to know I am monitoring at smaller levels.
ORIGINAL POST
Without to much ado I have found this site:
uritest.co.uk
Whick sells 'sticks' that estimate up to 13 different parameters.
The 10V one is a little over the top just for checking blood content and the 5V is the smallest option that includes blood.
I intend to get one of the 10V for occasional detailed investigation and 4 of the 5V for regularly checks. Each has 100 sticks.
They have a lifespan of two years.

Hi
I was pleased to receive your product the day after I ordered it by phone. I did tell your staff that I couldn't complete an order on-line as it got stuck on the last page.
It brought up the basket and total in the header but the main page of the page was blank so I couldn't find a way of paying.
However the main reason I am writing is that I have used them twice and on both occasions their may be something wrong with the PH part.
It seems that the reagent may not be properly or evenly saturated on the pad as it seems darker on the left, than is the active end of the stick, than the right.
The other thing I mentioned to your staff is that the comparison chart of the 'bottle' would be easier to use if it was lengthways along the cylinder rather than around it. Having to turn the cylinder whilst holding the strip with the other and is not as easy as doing it horizontally.
Also the pop-off cap isn't very nice. A screw on version would feel more secure.
Given these concerns I am minded to try an alternative product next time.
Thank you
Roger Lovejoy.

Further to my email below, I am concerned that the pH levels are off.

I know I wasn’t that happy with the UriTest version but your is consistently gives a pH over 0.5 lower. Plain water gives less than 6.5.

Hi.
I have just bought some Urinalysis strips of yours from a supplier in
the UK (http://www.valuemed.co.uk/acatalog/URS_TESTS.html) as I wasn’t
that happy with ones from
(http://www.econo-med.com/acatalog/econo_med_URITEST_64.html).
Both are 5 value sticks.
The ones from econ0-med (UriTest) are
a) made in China
b) Have a pop-off lid
c) Are not sealed inside the lid.
I haven’t tested yours yet and intend to later today and will compare
with UriTest over the coming week.
My question is: Where are they manufactured? USA, Germany or China. ![]()
Thank you
