The European Union in its wisdom hides all manner of additives behind numbers. Inform yourself about some of the more questionable ones.
Aspartame (1,2,3) is listed on the US weapons list. It was banned in the USA but some big time investor got into politics and got in back in the food chain.
(1) Too Sweet or Not to Sweet? After reading this old file I grabbed please read Not Quite about Aspartame!
(2) Aspartame: History of Fraud and Deception. The trufax.org site is still active but the original of this document is missing. Have emailed them.
(3) Metabolism: "Another problem with aspartame is the phenylalanine that is produced in the breakdown of it. . ."
If you must have junk foods use sugar as in Original Cola not Diet etc.
